All About LUXUL

Photography is about capturing images composed of varying degrees of colors and light; plain and simple. At Luxul Photography, we strive to use and capture the light in such a way that the images we produce are comforting, inspiring, and thought provoking.

Luxul is a name that we have been fond of for many, many years. We felt that the name of our studio should be unique enough that it would separate us from our professional colleagues, but at the same time identify our work and our image. Ultimately simplicity won out and we believe the uniqueness speaks for itself.

Luxul is composed of two elements.

* First, the base word LUX, which is defined as the International System unit of illumination. It is equal to one lumen per square meter.
* Second, the entire word LUXUL is a palindrome, which is defined as a word, phrase, verse, or sentence that reads the same backward or forward.

We feel that the following thoughts and ideas are important in our creations and processes.

Act of Illuminating: the provision of light to make something visible or bright, or the fact of being lit up; enlightenment, recognition, awareness.

Luxul Thougths: Most people are extremely self-conscious and hard on themselves from an emotional, spiritual, and physical level. Luxul photography specializes is capturing the things you like best about yourself, to bring out your personality, and inner most thoughts.

Enlightment: intellectual, spiritual or sexual enlightment and awareness.

Luxul Thougths: Self Awareness and realization is something that every person is always facing. It is a part of life and growth. It is term that is used to help describe the trends in thought, periods of your life, times when you have emerged from from difficult circumstances and reached a new age of personal recognition by reason and an increased respect for humanity.

Usage light: the amount or strength of light available in a place or for purpose.

Luxul Thougths: Light or lighting is the most important factor in photography. Lighting is essential to concealing flaws, making you look your absolute best, and highlighting key features. The study of light and exposure is essential in all visual art forms.

Clarification and explanation: The process of clarifying or explaining a thought.

Luxul Thougths: More than a set of fixed ideas, illumination implies an attitude - a distinct method of thought.

“Dare to Know” ~ Challenge yourself and find a desire to re-examine and question who we are as people; your values, ideas, thoughts, impressions, and be able to explore new ideas in may different directions. Capture these ideas in art that you will treasure and which will be a reflection of feelings, thoughts and a this period in your life. Whether a gift for that someone special in your life, or as a gift to yourself, intimate photography offers you a way to capture your freedom of expression, like never before.

All About Lisa

Lisa & Kevin are a husband and wife photography team providing unique images from two pairs of artistic eyes. Each has a specific style that is both uniquenly different, yet also very complimentary to each other.

Lisa Irene's fascination with photography began when she was fifteen where she experimented with black and white, portraits, creative art, and personal photography as a hobby. Photography remained a passion during her college years where she did a number of personal portrait sessions, pictures for family and friends, and weddings. As her skill and passion grew so did her fascination with relationships, human nature, sensuality, intimate nature, and personal portrait photography. Lisa Irene balances her photography hobby with a career in Healthcare. She finds that her hobby helps to balance her life and constantly rekindle her spirit for living; she constantly expresses her desire to “Live,” “Love,” and “Leave a Legacy.” As a nurse by training, her inspiration comes from life of all ages, the beauty of the human body in every form, and the passion and personalities that we each express.

Fascinated by the dynamics of photography, she likes to work with weddings, pregnant mothers, new born babies alone, with parents and/or with their siblings, couples in loving relationships (of all persuasions), and individuals that want to have something special that helps them express themselves (capturing thoughts and expressions). She is interested in models of all ages, gender, and ethnicities.

She enjoys working with subjects in the familiarity of their own homes, but also works outside in nature and does studio photograph work. Lisa Irene travels and works nationally but lives and does the majority of her work in the Arizona Scottsdale/Phoenix and metropolitan community.

All About Kevin

Kevin also has experienced and worked with varying photographic equipment since an early age. His first exposure to being a shutterbug was in utilizing his father's 35mm camera for junior high school photography class. This early instruction has always remained with him and provided a desire to know more about how the camera works, why light does what it does, and how to achieve results by forcing the variables that influence it.

As with Lisa, his interests are varied, but where she emphasizes artistic expression of relationships, Kevin directs his attentions to distinctness and uniqeness of images - essentially combining poses, lighting, scenarios, and individuals to create an image that is entirely new and without comparision; a very challenging yet rewarding effort!

We do not limit our design and creativity to a pre-determined format or style. We are both completely open minded and love to create new approaches and looks. Our only limitations are in what our clients strictly state are outside their personal limits.

We do not do inappropriate imagery, most specifically of children, adolescents, or teenagers, and will abide by the laws of the locales where applicable.
